Hi neighbor!
My mom loves a good list. Feeling like a bad parent? She’ll send you a list of everything you’re doing right. Struggling to make friends in your new town? She’ll send you a list of ways to connect. Thinking about switching jobs? She’ll send you a list of companies IN YOUR AREA that are hiring. It’s become so commonplace that I now just text my sister, “Mom sent me a list!” and she knows exactly what I mean.
The other day I was in a MOOD about the back-to-school grind. Don’t get me wrong, my kids neeeeeded to go back in the worst way, but the number of forms to sign, e-mails to read, back-to-school events to attend, school supplies to buy and carpools to coordinate felt like a full-time job I never applied for. So! I decided to channel my mom by making a list of all the things I love about this time of year, when fall wraps us in its crisp, colorful embrace:
• Chili on Sundays
• Steaming mugs of cider
• Freshly sharpened pencils
• Outdoor fires
• Pumpkin-spiced anything
• Crunchy leaves underfoot
• Curling up with a blanket and good book (I loved this, this, and this, and this one is on my list, along with a million others ha ha)
• Pants! (shorts are the worst)
• Cinnamon everything
• Hayrides
• Better TV
• Carving pumpkins
• My UGG® slippers (like hugs for my feet!)
• Candy corn for breakfast
What would you add?
Happy Fall,
Kate
