Lisa Learner has been painting landscapes and people in this area all her life. She grew up in Wynnewood, lived in Narberth and Ardmore, and has since been a Havertown resident for over 30 years. She received her BFA from Tyler (Temple), and her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Her paintings are in the US, Canada, and Japan, and she is in the permanent collections of the Woodmere Art Museum, Conrail, and the American Council on Education in Washington, DC. She has been teaching painting and drawing to students at local schools and colleges for over forty years. Her paintings are all of people in locations that she is familiar with, and often include her friends or family members. Her husband is a woodworker and gilder and hand-carves wooden frames for all of her art, custom-designing them for each piece. He either chooses to apply gold leaf to the surface of the frame or else leaves a natural wood finish, depending on the look of the painting.
