Hi Neighbor!
A few weeks ago I found myself among the shelves of Main Point Books in the center of Wayne during the annual Philly Book Crawl. With over 57 independent book stores participating both in the city and the suburbs, it was difficult to choose where to go and who to support. In the end, it was my one and only stop on the crawl, but after a two-hour stop and shop, I knew I picked a gem for my landing.
When I walked in, I could feel the low, electric buzz in the air; the store was filled with other enthusiastic readers plus I could smell the fresh pressed pages of new books (words on pages waiting to be read!). My friend was already standing by the rack of staff recommended books, patiently waiting for me so we could peruse together. Let the adventure begin!
We were met with clean, orderly shelves and displays, a bright, welcoming space, and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. We asked questions, searching for local authors (think Liz Moore) among the stacks of books. We received enthusiastic answers and engaging conversations. We even chatted with the owner who quickly directed us to upcoming events sponsored by Main Point Books. Of course we geeked-out a bit more, signing up for the One Book One Lower Merion series featuring Harlan Coben (yes, the renowned author who has a plethora of Netflix series based on his books).
This bibliophile left Main Point Books feeling fulfilled, the weight of the tote on my arm indicating victory as I added to my never-ending collection of books. The experience had a small-town feel to it, one I continually miss from my own small town childhood. I was thrilled to support Main Point Books and know I will be returning again…and again.
Enchanted by books,
Jackie
Lovely! Local bookstores are one of the Main Line’s treasures. Great fun to share them with the visitors on the Crawl. Love your beautiful image of words on the page waiting to be read.

View lessI will never read a book online or on a Kindle. I love to make notes in the margins and underline and highlight with the idea that someday I may go back and reread it and check my thinking and understanding.
