In October, I celebrated my 7th anniversary working at Main Line Neighbors. Helping to curate events for both the Newsletter and Website is one of my favorite things to do at MLN!
I love my job year-around, but during the holidays it becomes something truly special. Throughout the year, I’m gathering activities, hidden gems, and community highlights—but during the holiday season, every event feels infused with a little extra magic. People are looking for ways to connect, celebrate, and make memories, and I get to help them discover exactly where to find those moments. It’s a joy to curate experiences that bring neighbors together and showcase the heart of the community.
What makes this time of year especially rewarding is the variety and warmth of holiday events. From cozy craft markets to festive light displays, charity drives to family-friendly performances, there’s something for everyone—and I get to sift through it all, choosing the ones that I hope will spark excitement or inspire a tradition. It’s like assembling a special gift for the community, carefully wrapping up opportunities for joy and connection. The creative challenge of balancing beloved hometown classic events with new discoveries makes the process both fun and meaningful.
What I love most is knowing that my work helps people feel more connected—to their community, to each other, and to the spirit of the season. A simple event listing can lead to shared memories, laughter, or even a new favorite holiday tradition. When we hear from readers who found something wonderful to do because of the newsletter, it reminds me that this job is more than collecting information—it’s about building community.
During the holidays, that purpose feels especially rewarding. Helping people find ways to celebrate, give back, and come together is truly a labor of love for me, and I’m so grateful to be part of something that brings joy and connection to others.
