Hi Neighbor!
It is officially summer, and the suburbs are alive with the sound of music! The city and surrounding areas are musically inclined as well, but the point is, live music is playing this season, and we have options!
Where to start? In our own backyard, and often for free! Inspiring music under the stars can be found in several townships throughout the summer. This entertaining weekly tradition takes place in Rose Tree Park, Narberth at Chet Tyson Pavilion, Tredyffrin Township, and King of Prussia Town Center, to name a few. Keep your ears open for pop-up concerts in our local, lovely gardens and arboretums as well. Pro tip: Don’t miss these free concerts!
Another seasonal favorite is the Bryn Mawr Twilight Concert Series, bringing recording artists to the pavilion next to the Bryn Mawr library. As with most outdoor venues, lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged with some refreshments and food for purchase on site. Tickets must be purchased in advance for these concerts but both seasonal passes and individual tickets are available. Pro Tip: Don’t miss the personable Livingston Taylor on June 20.
Moving a littler further away from the ‘burbs and heading to one of my favorite venues, the Mann Center, where attendees can purchase tickets to a variety of shows ranging from the Philadelphia Orchestra to legendary favorites to light rock. As the Mann is entering its 50th anniversary season, now seems like the perfect time to attend. Pro Tip: Lawn seats are inexpensive and still provide the same experience as higher priced tickets.
A similar venue but across the river is Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, celebrating 30-plus years of music and memories. The Pavilion pumps out concerts all season for diverse tastes ranging from country to pop and more. Pro Tip: Lawn seats are also affordable and acoustically pleasing.
Of course there are mega-stars performing in area arenas and stadiums, both indoors and outdoors, and even in Atlantic City’s venues all summer long. Pick your favorite superstar or bucket list performer and purchase your tickets. The choices this season are amazing! Pro tip: If tickets are pricey, wait until a few days before to purchase if the show is not sold out.
Musical entertainment is everywhere this summer; be sure to treat yourself.
Musically speaking,
Jackie
