Affirming the intrinsic value of all cultures and promoting the inspirational, healing and socially proactive powers of the arts, The Painted Bride Art Center offers audiences groundbreaking dance, jazz, theater, poetry and gallery and performance works by internationally recognized artists. Founded in 1969, Painted Bride Art Center has long been a cultural pioneer. Founder Gerry Givnish and other artists opened a gallery on South Street and started a cultural revolution in the area. In 1981, the Bride purchased and moved to its permanent home at 230 Vine Street. As the Bride has evolved, it has purposefully provided access to a wide array of artistic voices concerned with political and social issues.
