Hi Neighbor!
New year’s resolutions are not my jam. I’ve tried small ones, like drinking more water, and big ones, like making new friends. Nothing sticks. (I’m still chronically dehydrated and could probably use another friend or two.) I’ve seen the trend to replace resolutions with a More/Less List, as in “More Dancing!” and “Less Complaining!” but that feels too vague and open ended to me, like something I’ll write down and forget about ten minutes later. (Plus, I really like complaining.)
This year my sisters and I are trying something new: A 100 Day Challenge, which we collectively started on January 1. Since we all have Pelotons, we’re challenging ourselves to use our Peloton for 100 days straight. Not every day has to be a HITT cycle class; stretching and meditation classes count too! To me 100 days is the perfect amount of time—long enough to matter but short enough to feel doable. And you can apply this challenge to anything! One of my sisters quit drinking for 100 days, and an author I love announced a 100 Days of Journaling Challenge. New York Times bestselling cookbook author Lisa Leake launched a business after she and her family gave up processed and refined food for 100 days in 2010.
To be fair I’m only about ten days into my challenge, but I’m determined to see it through. Personally, I have an easier time adding a task to my day than giving something up. Plus, we’re planning a little sisters’ getaway to celebrate ourselves. (Our husbands are thrilled.) Less than 90 days to pack, but I’m up for the challenge.
Happy new year,
Kate
