Hi Neighbor!
I have a new toy, and I am obsessed! But first, here’s the backstory:
I have resisted the Apple watch, mainly because I want to be disconnected, liberated, off-the-grid for a portion of my day. And that portion of my day, the tuning out part, is during workouts and walks. Sure, when my iPhone is on my person, it tracks some stats and data, but what about when I am playing tennis and my phone is tucked away in my bag? That was the missing the component; I was working hard but hardly getting credit for calories burned and steps taken.
I needed a non-Apple watch solution.
I googled a bit, mentioned it to my sons, and WHOOP there it was, the WHOOP fitness tracker you wear 24/7 so it can track and respond to all of your workouts plus rest and recovery time. My sons gifted a basic level WHOOP for Mother’s Day, and after some initial set-up glitches, I never take it off.
Of course there is a WHOOP app and you have to sync your device with the app for all of that nocturnal tracking in addition to waking efforts, but truth be told, set-up was effortless. After adjusting the strap and figuring out how to close the clasp, WHOOP – just like that I was hooked.
This little apparatus provides more information than I can ever comprehend and it is compiling all the data into one neat place should I ever wish to dig deep. Beyond tracking calories and steps, WHOOP recommends when I should go to bed, how many hours I should sleep for a full recovery based on the day’s workout, and asks me how I am feeling when I wake up in the morning. A friend who truly cares about my well-being!
Additionally I can ask questions and the “voice” behind my WHOOP will help plan for the most efficient day – and night – based on my caffeine and alcohol intake, hours slept (yes, it measures REMs too!), and exercise. It’s the voice inside my head encouraging me to be better, to be accountable, and yes, I am obsessed.
WHOOP is all mine,
Jackie
