As a registered nurse with Jefferson and Penn Health systems, she saw the emotional and physical toll the pandemic was taking on her friends, former colleagues and co-workers as they were treating critically ill patients.
On April 17th, Emily launched her Feed The Frontlines with 2nd Family initiative. Friends, family and followers of 2nd Family jumped right in with nominations of hard-working healthcare workers at local hospitals as well as monetary donations to support the cause. 2nd Family worked with local restaurants, including Desert Rose and Bittersweet Kitchen (both in Media) as well as Ripplewood Whiskey & Craft (In Ardmore) to deliver delicious meals to the nominees and their floors. Many floors are converted Covid-19 units due to the influx of positive patients.
Since the April 17th launch, 2nd Family has raised nearly $5000, visited 10 different local hospitals (HUP, Jeff, Temple, Presby, Riddle, Chester County Hospital, Virtua in Voorhees, Crozer-Chester, Bryn Mawr & Lankenau Hospitals), 17 different floors and fed hundreds of local healthcare workers.

It is hard to believe that in our area there are hundreds of people who depend on Main Line Meals on Wheels, but that is reality. We are a fresh meal business. We prepare and cook our menu every day from our kitchen (following the best in food safety standards) in Philadelphia. Our meals are fully gluten-free; we offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks & drinks. We also have options that are keto-friendly, Whole30, paleo, pescetarian, vegetarian, vegan, and milk free. All of our meals come in microwave-safe, BPA free plastic containers that are heated in less than two and a half minutes. Meals can also be placed in oven-safe containers and heated in the oven.
