August is sizzling on the Main Line with new Pilates studios, drop-in childcare, Greek coffee and more! Stay cool, neighbor.
• New to the Bean Scene
A Greek-inspired coffee shop is brewing in Ardmore, just steps from the train station. Owners Danny and Eleni Chrisidis are putting the finishing touches on The Brew Room , their long-dreamed-of roastery that blends modern style with the warm, social spirit of a classic Greek coffeehouse. Designed for lingering, the space will feature ample seating in a lively, yet relaxed atmosphere. Guests can sip expertly crafted coffee drinks made from beans sourced locally AND globally, nibble on freshly baked pastries or tuck into a tasty sandwich. But the real star here might be the “Freedo,” a double shot of espresso poured over ice with a frothy crown and optional cold milk foam.
The Brew Room is slated to open by month’s end, welcoming coffee lovers daily from 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
• Consign Time
After a year of repairs following an HVAC fire, BellaDONNA Gifts owner Donna Martella has ceded her Wayne storefront to the next generation. Her son Art and his girlfriend Danielle Robbins have transformed the space into Main Line Revival , a high-end consignment boutique brimming with antique, traditional and contemporary treasures for the home. Each piece is handpicked for quality and craftsmanship, creating a curated mix you won’t want to miss! See something you love? They’ll ship it anywhere on the East Coast—including your Shore house.
For consignors, Main Line Revival offers an above-average 55% commission AND their own moving truck to transport items straight to the shop. Prefer to sell online? Stage and photograph items yourself and Main Line Reveal will handle the listing. For select in-demand finds, Main Line Revival will even purchase pieces outright.
Main Line Revival is located at 128 E Lancaster Avenue in Wayne. Hours vary; check the website for details.
• No sitter? No problem!
Good news for busy parents! A KidsPark franchise has taken over the old Jacuzzi store in Haverford, offering stress-free drop-off childcare for ages 2 through 12—no reservation required! From art projects and fitness fun to S.T.E.A.M., cooking and free play, there’s plenty to keep them happy (and worn out!). Bonus: An onsite preschool is set to debut this fall.
After a one-time $40 membership fee, families pay $14/hour per child. Not bad, right?!?
KidsPark is located at 519 Lancaster Avenue in Haverford. Hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM with extended hours on Friday and Saturday.
• Here’s the Scoop!
The Philly region is definitely sweet on Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, which opened a new store in Bryn Mawr. This marks the brand’s fourth scoop shop in the region—and one of more than 80 nationwide, proving locals can’t get enough of the brand’s creative, conversation-starting flavors.
While Jeni’s is known for dreaming up wild combinations inspired by pop culture, fan favorites skew a bit more conventional, like Brambleberry Crisp (a vanilla ice cream base with tangy brambleberry jam and oven-toasted oat streusel), Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks and Gooey Butter Cake. You can also snag Jeni’s pints at area grocery stores, but nothing beats a freshly scooped cone, amiright?!?
Want the real scoop? Check out Guy Raz’s deep-dive with founder Jeni Britton Bauer here . It’s goooood.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams of Bryn Mawr is located at 841 W Lancaster Avenue. Hours are Monday through Thursday 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM and Friday through Sunday 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM.
