•Last Call at Haverford Square: Merritt Gallery Announces Closing Liquidation
After more than 40 years, Merritt Gallery is getting ready to close its doors. What started as a small in-home gallery by Joanie Young grew into a Main Line favorite, thanks to her daughters Merritt Miller and Rachel Rubin, who helped bring art into homes and offices all over the community. In early March the owners announced on Instagram that “with full hearts and deep gratitude, their art galleries would be closing”. All of their locations, including Haverford, will be closing in early 2026.
To celebrate the end of an incredible family-run journey, they’re hosting an “End of an Era” sale—giving community members a chance to grab pieces from their collection at discounted prices before they close the doors forever.
What to Know Before You Go:
Substantial Discounts: The entire inventory is being discounted between 25% and 75% off. This includes everything from contemporary canvases and sculptures to their “Masterworks” collection.
First-Come, First-Served: Pieces are being sold with no holds.
Final Sale Policy: As this is a total liquidation, all sales are final.
In-Home Services: While the gallery is closing, they are still offering additional services like delivery and professional installation for a fee during this final phase.
Whether you are a longtime client or have never stepped foot inside, now is the time to walk the floor one last time, and perhaps find that perfect piece you have been searching for.
Merritt Gallery is located in Haverford Square, 385 Lancaster Ave, Haverford.
Hours: Monday–Friday: 10 AM – 6 PM | Saturday: 10 AM – 5 PM
•118 North to go? Say it Ain’t So!
Talks are under way for a proposed redevelopment project at 118 N. Wayne Avenue in Wayne.
The proposal involves demolishing the existing space that houses the popular 118 North, a live music bar and restaurant, along with a vacant space formerly occupied by a dry cleaner. Under the proposal, the current one-floor building would be demolished and converted into a three-floor, mixed-used space. The proposed demolition would force 118 North to close during construction.
The project, led by real estate investor Joseph Smogard, plans to keep space for 118 North, but wants to replace the current building with a new structure that will include retail shops on the first floor(including a smaller spot for 118 North), residential units ( 4 luxury apartments with rooftop decks) on the third floor, and office space on the second floor including a space for Smogard’s office.
The proposal has been discussed at multiple Radnor Township planning and zoning meetings, but the discussion was tabled due to concerns over stormwater-management and so that the developer could collaborate with township engineers to revise that plan and obtain the necessary zoning variances.
Another hearing regarding the project was scheduled with the Planning Commission on Monday 4th, so stay tuned!
